Linear Ceiling Baffle
Vertically suspended contoured linear baffle for open ceilings.
Linear Baffles hang vertically from open-plenum ceilings — a contoured TECHLITE® melamine fin that delivers high-surface-area broadband absorption for restaurants, gyms, atriums, and gathering spaces. Add rows to increase coverage without lowering the finished ceiling plane.
Send us the room dimensions and target reverb time — we’ll return a coverage plan and estimate.

Why specify the Linear Ceiling Baffle
- Open-Cell, Fiber-Free
TECHLITE® melamine foam core — fiber-free with no shedding or airborne particulates.
- Lightweight & Flexible Install
Very lightweight and flexible — suspends from aircraft cable/wire with no lift equipment required.
- Architecturally Enhancing
Contoured linear fin creates a signature open-ceiling rhythm that reads as a design element.
- ASTM C423-17 Sound Absorption
Tested in accordance with ASTM C423-17 — 10 Sabins at 500 Hz, 16 Sabins at 1000 Hz per baffle.
- Class A Fire Rated
ASTM E84 Class A across finishes for schools, studios, and commercial installs.
- High Light Reflectance
Reflective white face supports daylighting strategies and contributes to LEED points.
- Better Speech Intelligibility
Cuts overhead reverb for clearer speech and greater overall acoustic comfort.
Where the Linear Ceiling Baffle fits

NRC Gauge
Independent absorption testing on our TECHLITE® melamine foam — the same material used across our baffle line. NRC is the average absorption from 250 – 2000 Hz, the range that carries most speech and music energy. Vertical baffle placement exposes both faces to the room, boosting effective absorption per unit compared to a flush-mounted panel of the same thickness — the 2″ baffle delivers better than 90% absorption at 2000 Hz.
- SAA
- 0.78
- Mounting
- Type A
Absorption results tested in accordance with ASTM C423-09a — independent third-party acoustic lab report supplied by the manufacturer.
NRC = Noise Reduction Coefficient, the average of the 250, 500, 1000, and 2000 Hz absorption coefficients rounded to the nearest 0.05. SAA = Sound Absorption Average across twelve one-third-octave bands (200–2500 Hz). Mounting follows ASTM E795 (Type A = direct-to-hard-surface).
- NRC 0.00–0.30: Reflective surface — will not meaningfully reduce echo.
- NRC 0.30–0.60: Modest absorption — some reverb reduction.
- NRC 0.60–0.85: Strong absorption — noticeable clarity and comfort gains.
- NRC 0.85+: Studio / broadcast-grade absorption.
Higher NRC = more sound absorbed on impact. NRC only measures absorption within a room; it is not a soundproofing (transmission-loss) rating.
