PAC International RSIC-1 Edge
The RSIC-1 Edge is used together with standard RSIC-1 clips, at the few positions where an RSIC-1 cannot be installed because there is no suitable framing face — the end of a furring-channel run, a channel running parallel to the framing at a wall/ceiling intersection, or a ceiling perimeter with no joist above. Its down-facing metal L bracket fastens tight to whatever structure is available, and its rubber isolator carries the furring channel in the same horizontal plane as the surrounding RSIC-1 clips. It is not installed continuously around every perimeter and it does not replace the RSIC-1 in the field.
- Used with the RSIC-1, not instead of it: PAC's own guide calls it a clip 'for use in conjunction with the RSIC-1' where the standard clip cannot be installed due to a lack of mounting surface. The field quantity stays RSIC-1.
- An exception count, never an area count: Mark the channel-run ends and positions with no framing face, and order one Edge per position. Five wall channel rows needing support at one end is five Edge clips.
- Down-facing L bracket keeps the plane: The bracket mounts tight to the available structure or the wall top plate so the Edge channel grip sits in the same horizontal plane as the RSIC-1 clips on the joists.
- Walls and ceilings: PAC lists use on walls: yes and use on ceilings: yes, in wood, steel, CMU or concrete systems that already use RSIC-1 clips.
- 18 lb per isolator: Maximum acoustical design load is 18 lb. Check the tributary load of the furring, gypsum layers and finishes at each Edge position — no cabinets, bookshelves or unrelated loads.
- Fixed 1-5/8 in cavity: The specification table lists Adjustable: No, cavity minimum and maximum both 1-5/8 in, so the Edge lines up with the RSIC-1 it works alongside. It is not field height-adjustable.

RSIC-1 Edge preliminary count
The Edge is only used where a standard RSIC-1 has no framing face to mount to — the end of a furring-channel run, a channel running parallel to the framing at a wall/ceiling intersection, or a ceiling perimeter with no joist. Count those positions; every other support point on the same runs stays a standard RSIC-1. Wall or ceiling area never sets this number.
Five horizontal furring-channel rows on a wall, each with one end where no stud face is available: five RSIC-1 Edge clips. If both ends of every row are unsupported it is ten. On a ceiling, count the actual channel ends and perimeter positions with no joist — normally one Edge per affected run end.
